Introduction to Ancient Roman life
Over the next two weeks, you will be working in a team to research information and document your historical findings about ancient roman life.
Learning objectives: At the end of this project you should be able to:
- identify past individual and/or group roles, events or developments about ancient roman life
- describe individual and/or group roles, events, or developments from the perspective of different people who lived at the time
- suggest reasons for change and continuity over time
- describe the significance of your findings about ancient roman life (Based on WA curriculum, Yr7 History Syllabus, 2014)
Your role
You will assume the role of a historian and in groups you will complete an in-depth investigation of a specific aspect of Ancient Rome life to teach your peers about the aspect your group investigated. You will step back in time to discover what life was like in Ancient Rome and explore the links between our modern world and the ancient roman world. Many aspects of our life today can be directly linked to ancient Roman times. For example: many of the names of the months in the year and the planets in the solar system. You will document and report your findings as a PowerPoint presentation to your peers at the end of the project.
Historians research, "compile and summarize information to contribute to the overall story of humanity" (study.com, 2017, para. 3). Part of a historian's job role is to write reports and articles based on facts and deliver presentations for educational programs (Truity, 2017).
